Using this post to raise a point on providing software services for Experts like Doctors to improve the quality of health care and at the same time making it more effective for patients.

How about, if we provide some services to these experts for their daily jobs using open source software. This will help us keeping these experts on eZdia practically the whole day and they can also see what people are asking them, and at the same time provide them help to do their daily jobs easier.

For e.g.

Only 17% of US Physicians are using computerized patient record system when it has been proven that the quality of patient care and efficiency for the physicians improve by using such systems. So, if we can offer such an electronic health care record system using already developed open source software (like open EMR), we should be able to attract lot of physicians to enroll on eZdia as experts..pay a small fee for the openEMR service while at the same time use other features like Knowledge Bucket, Expert Help side by side..

Anand very good point. I have to learn more about EMR. If you have some resources and also information about how to honor patient confidentiality etc.

There is a value in such systems as the money runs high in Medical line and hospitals and doctor's office will be willing to pay for any such expert system.

We can possibly start some trial on something that is less critical. For example advice on weight reduction, weight monitoring.

Agrees with your point Vikas. We can spend a lifetime just discussing about what the needs of patients and physicians and how can we improve the whole interactions.

So, what I was trying to do here is get a group of physicians and patients and test some of the open source solutions by offering them as a service which will help us to learn the behavior patterns and the requirements.

We can then use these learning to create a better offering before going to the mass market. I will be working with our India team to get one such solution implemented on our development server to test and check the feature. Meanwhile, we can work on identifying a focus group of physicians and patients.
